Nip has come along way over these last few years. With this release he set out to change the game. With Jay-Z linking with Samsung for a $5 million dollar album in advance deal; Everyone has been trying to find new marketing tools. Nipsey decided to sale his album for $100 on hard copy and give it out for free digitally. He has stamped the campaign Proud2Pay. From what I see he might actually change the game. he will most likely chart on the Billboard top Hip Hop/R&B Albums seeing as 1000 copy were printed.
Almost 2 years removed from his last full length release ( "The Marathon Continues" 2011) and a slew of release dates later "Crenshaw" is here. The album if you will starts off with a "Boys In The Hood" skit that mentions Nip's neighborhood and Gang. The first actual song is "U See Us" sounding like he hasn't lost a step Nip glides over the Mike Free produced track.
the mixtape touches on topics that aren't new to Nip. He speaks on his independence and not tilling to let the major labels take advantage of him. through out the album he reinforces his willingness to be the company and market and release his won product.A ear catching cut from the album is the Rick Ross assisted "The weather" where Nip raps such lines as "SL with the toppings off, dress Well When Its Time To Ball"
He later raps "Grind hard til it benefit me, Shine hard nigga literally" on "More Or Less" produced by x.The tape just further expands on the road Nip has laid with past projects. He lives a luxurious life and its all dur to his hustle. Every track breathes encouragement to people to go and get it themselves.
Nip has his eyes set on a high prize with this project; Does he reach that goal is up to the fans. Although the Album comes in at a hefty 21 tracks its a great listen all in all. The next stop is said to be the "Victory Lap" and "crenshaw" was the perfect hold over until The Marathon Continues
