Hip Hop Album Sales: Drake, Future & Mac Miller


Andy Mineo also charts with his independently released "Uncomfortable" album.

Drake and Future topped the Billboard Top 200 Chart this week, as expected, although their joint project sold less than theanticipated 500,000 units. Mac Miller and Andy Mineo also debut in the Top 10. The Weeknd fell from the top spot and Beauty Behind the Madness now sits at #3. Jay Rock saw a 69 percent decrease in sales and holds the #94 slot with 90059.



Drake and Future Take Crown

Drake and Future's surprise release, What a Time to be Alive, saw 375,458 total units of sales its opening week. It was released on a Sunday, which gave it two fewer days to sell because most albums drop on Fridays. The album saw nearly 37 million streams and was only available on Apple Music. Both Drake and Future had solo projects top the chart this year, with If Youre Reading This Its Too Late and Dirty Sprite 2, respectively. Those albums remain in this week's top 20.

Mac Miller Charts AgainMac Miller's Go:od AM, debuts at the #4 spot on the chart. The project saw 86,914 total sales units. His last album, 2013's Watching Movies With the Sound Off, debuted at the #3 spot, following Kanye West's Yeezus and J. Cole's Born Sinner.


Andy Mineo Lands In Top 10

Andy Mineo's sophomore LP, Uncomfortable, debuts at the #10 spot with 35,329 total units of sales activity. The Reach Records release topped the independent chart. The project includes the singles "Uncomfortable" and "Hear My Heart" and is executively produced by !llmind.

Jay Rock "90059" sales projection


Jay Rock’s 90059 album is expected to sell between 14,000 and 17,000 albums its first week in stores, according to Hits Daily Double
The TDE project is expected to be the best-selling Rap album debut this week.
The 11-cut collection features Kendrick Lamar and SZA on “Easy Bake” and Busta Rhymes on "Fly on the Wall.”
